Cocoon in Mesh

Cocoon in Mesh
Sedge Island, Ocean County, New Jersey, USA
July 13, 2010
There were two of these small cocoons on the leaf of some plant in the garden (I should have asked what it was...) One on the top and one on the bottom, opposite sides.

Host plants
It's always a good idea to get photos of host plants (including whole leaves and flowers/fruit if present) if you don't know what they are. Of course, a cocoon may be spun on something other than the host plant, but more information is always better than less.

I think diamondback moth, or something related, would be a good bet here. The host plant would be something in the mustard family, which many garden plants are.
