Size: about 1/2"
Good Camo for a tree - but he was hiding among some pink wild flowers (along a dry roadside)
I found one like him on this site: Squash/Thick-legged bug - Merocoris typhaeus?

I agree and will move to the appropriate guide page. Looks like this little guy got mired in some kind of goo, though, poor thing:-)

I don't think it was goo on him - I think he is actually colored look like moss & lichens - or something like that. If he were on a tree you'd NEVER see him! I have another pic - but not sure how to add it here....
