Size: body ~2.5cm
Maybe Idiostatus sp.? Found in clearing dominated by deerweed (Lotus scoparius) and native bunchgrasses at ~2,000ft.

Idiostatus aequalis is the most likely candidate. I can't come up with another that fits, and it looks like one too. There may have been recent species named from your area (seems to be a trend in California), but I'm unaware of them if so.

It seems to have really tiny wing nubs visible at full magnification (I wasn't 100% on age). I've seen a lot of these guys, but they always seem to be on the move in dense grass so no photo ops.
