Ash-Colored Owlet - Nycteola cinereana

Ash-Colored Owlet - Nycteola cinereana
Town of Baileys Harbor, Hidden Corners Sanctuary, Door County, Wisconsin, USA
November 19, 2004
Adult came to night light. This individual was a DOOR COUNTY RECORD and a STATE RECORD, as well. This species did not have a common name, so I named it Ash-Colored Owlet because cinereana is from the Latin word, cinereus, meaning "ash-colored."
