Nitidulid? - Prometopia sexmaculata

Nitidulid? - Prometopia sexmaculata
Elkland, Missouri, Dallas County, Missouri, USA
July 30, 2010
Size: 4.5 mm
Remembering some Bugguide postings, I'm thinking this might be a Nitidulid, but I have some Ostomids many time larger that have this "look." This is the second one of these to visit my lighted sheet this week. There are many old oak trees and fallen wood nearby.

Prometopia sexmaculata

Thanks again for the fast i.d. The variety of night-flying beetles on a hot, humid summer night in southern Missouri is amazing. I've been almost as thrilled with strange little guys like this one as I would be to have a huge stag beetle zoom into the sheet.
