Immature mites on rove beetle larva
Hudson, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA

This rove beetle larva found on decomposing shelf fungus collected Jan. 13, 2006 was loaded with immature mites in their sacs. The beetle was about 5.5mm long, so the young mites were less that 0.5mm. Photographed Feb. 25, 2006.
