Found on underside of blackberry leaf. I suppose this is one of those nymphs that secrete waxy projections from their rear ends, but a nymph of what?

Size estimate excludes the white material and assumes that the back end is shaped about like the front end.

the "crawler" stage of some kind of scale insect? Reminds me of this one, in general body shape anyway:

Our lemon tree has had a few cottony cushion scales. I removed them when I found them. This insect was a few yards from the tree, though. Maybe the fuzz sticking to it aided in wind dispersal.

But where should the photos go, given the great lack of certainty about ID?
