Polistes dorsalis
This is P. dorsalis. The species is common in Florida and has less developed yellow markings than P. exclamans. P. bellicosus has less developed black markings.

Yep that's definitely a Polistes wasp. We have tons around my house and they always make large nests in our attic. Really great picture by the way!

Polistes
Yes that is a Polistes wasp - I can not remember the species out of my head right now, but it is a common species. But the real great thing is that it is stylopized! It has a Strepsiptera parasite in its abdomen between the 4th and 5th abdominal segment, you can see the small brown thing sticking out. It is a female or a pupa of a male of the genus Xenos.
