Meloid - Megetra punctata
1 mi north of Coronado National Monument, Cochise County, Arizona, USA

similar elytra as the Megetra from Portal. The abdomen had lost a lot of its size and there was fluid in the transport vial by the time I got the beetle home for studio photos

Keys using Werner et al's 1966 Meloidae of Arizona.

Thanks, Blaine
the female from Portal had red on her head - these guys (we saw several) don't

key charachers
in Warner et at (1966) lie in elytral sculpturing and color. No indication that the red on the head is significant.
