Tipulidae - Ctenophora - female

Tipulidae - Ctenophora - Female
Guelph, Ontario, Canada
February 27, 2006
Size: 1"
I reared some of these to adults from the larvae which were feeding on rotting wood. I believe that they are Crane flies (Tipulidae) as they lack ocelli but just to be sure I'm posting the pictures for any Diptera experts to check.

Thanks
Matt

Ctenophora sp.
The adult looks like a female Ctenophora sp., or something in that subfamily in any event (the woodboring tipulids). Nice work rearing them.
