Dead grasshopper - Melanoplus bivittatus

Dead grasshopper - Melanoplus bivittatus
Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, Quebec, Canada
August 10, 2010
Size: About 1.5''
Had a hole in it's abdomen. Seen a lot like this. What could have caused this? And what kind of grasshopper is it?

It's a male Two-stripe Grasshopper
Melanoplus bivittatus. It probably died from a fungus disease and the hole came later, but it could also have had a fly parasite that emerged through the hole when it was done developing (which would also kill the grasshopper).
