Grasshopper-very small winglets - Brachystola magna - Female
Roxborough State Park, Jefferson County, Colorado, USA
September 27, 2003
Size: about 2 inches long
This individual did not move despite my close approach with the camera. This image was taken with the end of my lens about 1 to 1.5 feet from the specimen

Great Pic!
Great picture Dean! But I have one thing I want to know that nobody has answered, what does that kind of Grasshopper eat?

Wow.
This is an outstanding image of the impressive lubber grasshopper, Brachystola magna, also known as the "homesteader." Some specimens can be even more colorful, but this one is typical in color and size. Outstanding portrait!
