Common Walkingstick (Diapheromera femorata)? - Diapheromera femorata - Female
Green Lane, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 14, 2010
Size: Over 3" est
Different coloration from the specimen photographed earlier today, and I see some other types in the guide that are brown like this. This one doesn't seem to have stripes, however. Photo taken with flash, 78 deg F, 8:30 PM, no breeze. Weather has been dry with a couple anemic showers that amounted to nothing. This one is chubby and the butt looks slightly different than the semicircular claspers (?) on the male - perhaps female?
