crab spider - Bassaniana versicolor

crab spider - Bassaniana versicolor
Bluemont Park, Virginia, USA
May 19, 2004
Sorry for the harsh lighting in the photo. I think this is a type of crab spider. Its leg-span was about an inch and it had distinctive yellow markings on its abdomen. Any help in identifying is appreciated.

NIce markings
We would hate to see this one go out with the frass! It seems like it could be a useful crab spider pic as we try to sort them all out.

curious
Still curious to see what happens on Feb 23. We see this as a possible frass, of course, but think not quite yet. Would like to see some comments from a crab spider expert before this gets removed.

Unfrassed
I will look for this species again this year, and hopefully replace this poor image. But until then, I will unfrass it because you think it has value.

Bassaniana ?
Looks very similar to Troy's below. We're thinking maybe Bassaniana. Will wait for confirmation from Troy or Tom.
