Is this tiny beetle in the Pselaphinae family, or something else totally different?

I see the hair now!
Previously I thought my eyes were just having a hard time focusing :-)

Pselaphine
is what it looks like to me. Don Chandler is the expert on these, so he might give you a species name.

 
Scydmaenidae: Euconnus sp.
It is definitely a scydmaenid, I think genus Euconnus. The elytra reach the abdominal apex, and (though you can't see it) the tarsi are 5-5-5.
