THE LARGEST NON-TARANTULA SPIDER I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! - Argiope aurantia

THE LARGEST NON-TARANTULA SPIDER I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! - Argiope aurantia
along the freeway - no city - but like near tyler (100 miles give or take), I can't remember but very eastern, near Arkansas County, Texas, USA
August 14, 2010
Size: HUGE - 90-120 mm
OK. I was traveling on a road trip, and I stopped at this gas station to take a nap, and when I woke up, I out-loud all alone started screaming and laughing at my luck when I saw this fella!
I mean HE WAS HUGE!!!!! It was like nothing I had ever seen before. I had seen Tarantulas this big, but never a non-tarantula spider, anywhere near this.
This gas station had some kind of magic, b/c there was also a black widow there as well, it was high up in the eves, so I could really photograph it, but it was a hot bed of super gorgeous exotic crazy spider. They must have had good bugs to eat there or something.
It was just hanging there near the glass window, which was reflective and tinted, so you can see the reflection of the spider too, and the reflection of my camera as well. For size comparison, I put that shot in, although I was never any closer than about 8 feet, it was just an optical illusion of angles. He was high above my head. And I was standing on my tippy toes to get these images.
I hope you guys can figure this one out. HE WAS STUNNING!!!!!
