One of several of these galls found on stems and leaf petioles of Horse Nettle (Solanum carolinense) in weedy edge of lawn. The gall in this photo was on a petiole just above junction with main stem but others (slightly smaller) were also found on stem just below junctions with petioles.

Both Lasioptera solani and a Neolasioptera species have been reared from stem galls in Solanum carolinense. Larvae overwinter in the gall, and adults emerge in the spring. (1)
