These need to be viewed with a microscope and the specimen under alcohol or water. Camera images such as these just don't resolve enough detail to be of any real use, particularly when the specimen is not submerged -- too many specular reflections.

You're right that these aren't usable, but Edwards' revision still only has one fit. I like the way he did it, by creating an anatomy of dorsal patterns as we have for butterflies.
