Treehopper colony, probably Entylia carinata, on thistle (possibly Cirsium), tended by ants. See associated photo for image of nymph on same plant.
The new Brunswick data point can now be added, if id is confirmed.

Yes.
A guide to the Atlantic Maritime Ecozone, with lists of species by province (southern QUE, NB, NS, PEI), is coming off the presses in 3-6 weeks. The complete volume includes 31 chapters covering about 700 pages. You can see an illustration of the volume cover and a short description of the contents on the NRC Research Press website under Monographs and other books (“Coming Soon”)
