Vaejovis carolinianus
Family: Vaejovidae
Genus: Vaejovis
species: carolinianus
Author: (Beauvois, 1805) "South Carolina"
What you have is a beautiful photo of Vaejovis carolinianus, sometimes called "southern unstriped scorpion". It is found throughout the Appalachian region from NE Alabama and N Georgia, and up through Kentucky and SW North Carolina, W South Carolina, and of course, about the eastern 2/3 of Tennessee. It is not known to burrow and is found under logs, rocks, and things, and enters homes.
The sting is not dangerous.
