Beetle - Nicrophorus nigrita

Size: approx 13mm
The mites seemed pretty active. Are they parasites, or just hitch-hikers? Any chance of an ID on the beetle and the mites?

Nicrophorus nigrita
A carrion beetle; the mites are just hitch-hikers and may even be beneficial by eliminating the beetle's competition (fly maggots) when it finds a suitable dead animal.
