Can't give you the species...
...but it looks like a
Polistes
of some kind. Others may be able to take the ID further.

I'm 90% sure
That this large Paper Wasp is a Polistes arizonensis (a female specimen, anyway). But waiting for Dr Buck's expertise is safer.
Anyway, these two nice close-up are worthy to be kept on BG, not frassed.
