Large Caterpillar - Cimbex americanus
Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Size: Approx 2.5 inches long
Large caterpillar. Found in friend's woodpile next to birch trees - possibly about to pupate? No idea what this is. Checked all large moth & butterflies that I could think of for our area.
