Pretty sure this is Eristalis, but looking for verify that and for help breaking it down a little further to find out what kind of Eristalis fly.

Sorry, I don't know eastern species. You may want to move your post to Flies (Diptera) to see if it draws expert comment. (Otherwise, you could put it at Eristalis, but it would be far less visible there.)
