Pirate Spider - Male

This side view shows the enormous palps of a spider that appears not to have mated. It was placed on the perimeter of a web belonging to a juvenile feather-legged spider. The Pirate Spider almost immediately began plucking this anchor thread to gain entry, but, the web's owner would not be deceived.
