beetle larva - Schizotus cervicalis

beetle larva - Schizotus cervicalis
Woodford, Bennington County, Vermont, USA
March 24, 2006
Size: 17mm
Identified by comparing to Jim McClarin's picture of a dark flat bark beetle larva with long cerci.

Maybe
I notice mine has cream-colored intevals where segments meet. btw, my larva that pupated has now emerged and it appears to be same species as the adult you photographed. I guess Dan Young knows his larvae! I'll shoot it tomorrow to complete the sequence.

Have you considered trying to rear this one? A few termites or smaller larvae should do for food.

rearing
I think I'try to rear this one, now to go out and get it some food. The adults are really nice with those big antennae.
