ground beetle - Perigona nigriceps

ground beetle - Perigona nigriceps
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
September 24, 2010
Size: 2.7mm
Attracted to the porch light.

Yes, Perigona nigriceps
based on my microscopic examination of this specimen which is now a photo-voucher in the P.W.Messer collection. Thanks Tom.

Moved
Moved from Ground Beetles.
Peter, that sure looks like the right species. When you get the specimen, if you find it's different, we can move it. But I don't think we'll have to.

Interesting pale predominence.
Well-rounded pronotal hind angles eliminates much of Trechini and Bembidiini. Probably will end up as "Acupalpus" if examined under scope.

Probably Acupalpus
I saved the specimen, and I'll wait until you get it before I move it.

A second look
jogged my memory for "Perigona nigriceps". We shall see!
