Tiny Salticid - Admestina tibialis - Male

Size: ~ 3mm
Found this tiny jumper on a picnic table during lunch one day. So small! I looked through all the jumping spider sections here but didn't see any that look like him. What is he?

He does look similar to Thomas's posted spider there, and only one state up. Thomas's looks lighter and fuzzier, but otherwise has a similar body shape and that orange line through the eyes.

So are you otherwise one of the spider experts here?

- I just checked your profile - looks like you are. Very cool! Good to know, as I have a fondness for spiders and so end up taking pictures of any I run across.

You may be interested to know that over on Flickr, some of us are celebrating "Arachtober" with daily photos of spiders this month. 8)

Admestina?
We need some sort of "Bat beacon" with which we can alert Jay Barnes. :-)

My guess is something in the Ballinae (Admestina, for example)... hopefully Jay will take a look here.

If you still have the specimen, please save him!

That would be cool. Is he the resident spider expert?

I wish I'd saved him now! I'll keep an eye out for another, but I found him somewhere I spend a lot of time, and he was the first I've found like himself.
