Forward footed spider - Oxyopes scalaris

Forward footed spider - Oxyopes scalaris

Is there any significance to the way it has its legs forward? My impression is that these eat something very small.

Thanks for the help!
Interesting comments. I could not help noticing the extremely long spikes on the legs, so knowing that they catch their prey with their legs makes that understandable! It would be interesting to know what their prey is, but it is probably larger than what I would have guessed. Thanks for the info!

Good Idea!
I am guessing that there are some good action shots? That idea had not occurred to me!

Western Lynx
It's a Lynx spider, I'd guess a Western Lynx

They chase insects across vegitation and catch them with their legs to eat them

So I'd guess their front legs face forward like a crab spider's for better grabbing and holding.

Looks like -
a Western Lynx Spider, most likely. I'm not sure about the usual prey for this family...
