Cecropia moth?
When was this photo taken? The Cecropia moth (Hyalophora cecropia) turns up in late spring or early summer.

Edit: perhaps out of range too. Perhaps somebody with more expertise than me will come along...

That timeframe sounds OK
But probably not the Cecropia. Ceanothus silkmoth (Hyalophora euryalus) looks pretty similar to your specimen and occurs in B.C.
