San Diego, San Diego County, California, USA
October 9, 2010
Size: 18 mm
This spider was found in an urban area sitting in its net. It looks like a Araneus sp to me but I am unable to determine the species. It has 8 eyes and is 18 mm long.

Moved from ID Request. Not the experts you seek, but we would agree, Neoscona crucifera.

looks like a Neoscona to me
I don't see the Araneus abdomen humps. Also the U on the underside looks Neoscona-esque to me. Somebody else may have a better answer, so let's see what the spider experts say.

Thanks
Thank you guys for the help of IDing the spider!
