Tiny Yellow Bug - Extremely Itchy

Tiny Yellow Bug - Extremely Itchy
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA
October 10, 2010
Size: 1/32"
My brother in Oklahoma and his kids starting itching a little, and then a lot, almost felt like they were on fire. They noticed they were covered. Any ideas what this is? I guestimated the size, based on the second photo of it next to a quarter.

Looks good to me.. Made for Pain.
Thanks John! That looks like it.
Made for piercing and sucking with a painful bite.

Thrips bites
For reasons that have never been adequately explained, many thrips will bite when they land on human skin- even the vegetarian ones. Bites that develop within homes are usually the result of vegetation near an air-conditioning intake vent or other active intake of air from the outside that throws these creatures into the house. It is possible that a plant within the home could be the source of the thrips, but for some reason I’ve only heard of thrips being sucked in from the outside.

Good to know Thrips shouldn't be inside
Luckily they were outside throwing the baseball when this attack happened. It is reassuring to know they aren't natively found inside. Thanks!
