Chocolate Prominent 5th instar larva - Peridea ferruginea

Chocolate Prominent 5th instar larva - Peridea ferruginea
Town of Baileys Harbor, Hidden Corners Sanctuary, Door County, Wisconsin, USA
August 30, 2000
Female adult that looked like it had been "around the block" a few times came to night light, laid eggs. ID was made from specimen. Eggs hatched July 31, 2000; reared larvae on Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera). Formed pupae on September 1, 2000. Some, but not all, were in a loose cocoon. Released pupae under leaf litter to overwinter. Had about 25 other species to feed, photograph and record. Overwhelmed!!! Felt like I was operating a zoo.
