Chaetophloeus penicillatus - male

Chaetophloeus penicillatus - Male
Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
July 15, 2009
Size: 1.3 mm
These tiny critters fly to UV light at my house. Using Wood,1982 they key out easily. The pronotum has two tufts of setae. The male frons is concave and bordered by dense setae. Wood says they eat Sumac (Rhus) but I find them only at UV light.
