grey and black Moth - Nola

grey and black Moth - Nola
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
April 1, 2006
Maganola?

Moved
Moved from Nolinae.

I asked James Adams to take a look....
... at this photograph and here is what he had to say:

"This is indeed a noline. However, I took some just like it in S. GA in March, and I'm not quite sure which species we are looking at here. It may be Nola clethrae, a species that is supposed to be in the SE but one that I haven't seen any decent specimens or pictures of . . . ever. But I wouldn't bet on it."

Nolinae sp. is all we can do with this for now.
