Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Beetle??
Maybe a beetle larva? What kind of leaf was it on?

Parallel veins
mean it's a monocot. Recognizable flowers eliminates grasses, palms, sedges, aroids, etc. I don't think I can narrow it much further without more information, but, what the heck: an iris, maybe? Just a blind stab-in-the dark guess.

Iris
Good guess!

Lepidoptera or syrphid?
I'm thinking it is either a lepidopteran (like one of the hairstreaks), or the larva of one of the aphid-eating syrphid flies. Need more detail to tell for certain I would think.

Caterpillar
I don't know the name of the flower, which is a cultivated flower. Since the plants are infested with aphids I would assume that's why this larva is there.
