Euwallacea vallidus - Euwallacea validus - female

Euwallacea vallidus - Euwallacea validus - Female
Wake County, North Carolina, USA
July 7, 2009
Size: 3.7 mm
These have previously been in Xyle*borus (eg. Wood, 1982 and D&A) but are now considered separate. The posterior side of the antennal club has a clear suture showing a second segment unlike Xyleborus. The protibiae have 12 teeth. Females like this one are much larger and have the prothorax convex.

cool; i wonder, though, why the epithet ending is masculine
Moved from Xyleborina.

yes
Probably must be valida, but American beetles had E. validus and my other references still called it Xyleborus validus.
