Size: about 1.2 mm in length
Commonly found in grape juice traps in apple orchards. I am thinking this is a species in the genus Scymnus.

probably Stethorus punctum picipes
Solid black above and below with dark legs rules out Scymnus. The ventral image shows the prosternum partially concealing the mouthparts, diagnostic for Stethorus. I wish I could see the postcoxal line, but the dark femur and paler tibia/tarsus point pretty definitely to S. punctum picipes.

thanks for the ventral photos!
I couldn't do it without your ventral images, I am so glad you take the time to photograph the venters! Some beetle specialists don't even do that.
