There were also a lot of immature T. oblongus. I found a lot of them on tall oregon grape and scotch broom.

What is that for a plant?
What is that for a plant? A holly? Or a Quercus/oak of some kind?

[Ah, now I know -- it pays to be able to read: "Oregon grape" - Mahonia aquifolium. We have Mahonia here in Berlin in landscape plantings -- beautiful yellow flowers in the spring.]
