Eristalis dimidiata - female

Eristalis dimidiata - Female
Parkwood, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
October 31, 2010
Size: 13 mm
Note that the basal halves of the tibiae are whitish, fairly sharply demarcated. I believe one can see that the pile on the posterior callus and base of scutellum (?) is black, marks for this species given in the plate from Syrphidae of Ontario. Expert correction/comments appreciated, of course!
