Dorsal view to round out this series of a difficult species. Syrphidae of Ontario shows an incomplete yellow band on third tergum, but here, that appears in outline (<). Note, also, the outline (with prominent pile) of a similar band on the second tergum (>). I see specimens in my area both with and without these yellow bands. (I'm presuming they are all the same species, but that could be in error!)
