Ailanthus webworm - Atteva aurea

Ailanthus webworm - Atteva aurea
Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA
November 7, 2010
I found many Atteva aurea larvae feeding on emerging young tender leaves of ailanthus saplings November 7, even as ailanthus trees were dropping their mature leaves. Has anyone demonstrated how it overwinters? I find its cold tolerance intriguing, given the recent expansion of its range from the tropics.
