Millipede
Borrego Springs, San Diego County, California, USA

Size: BL~43 mm
This white striped millipede was found under a rock on in a very sandy area in Borrego Springs adjoining Anza-Borrego. A pretty dry spot, mainly a dry wash fairly far from water. However, February of 1991 was an exceptionally wet month. Feb had 3.96" of rain, almost all of it near the end of the month. It had rained the day before and also the day we saw the millipede, so the sand was damp. I wonder if this millipede was brought out by the rain?
