Spotless Lady Beetle? - Cycloneda munda

Spotless Lady Beetle? - Cycloneda munda
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
November 8, 2010
Size: unrecorded
Found on oak leaf. I find myself just getting confused with Lady Beetles with so many variations of face markings and/or lack/proliferation of spots. Note the near-transparency of the elytra. One can see the wings just under the surface of it. Lady beetles in general have made a comeback in the past couple of weeks concurrent with the appearance of many different kinds of aphids.

Moved from ID Request.

Two species in GA, and both can be found where this one was photgraphed: C. munda and C. sanguinea. In C. sanguinea, the white pronotal spot is usually detached from the white border.

In California . . .
this would be a female Cycloneda polita. Not sure about Georgia.
