Bark-gnawing Beetle? - Grynocharis quadrilineata

Bark-gnawing Beetle? - Grynocharis quadrilineata
Boxborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
April 9, 2006
Size: 6.5mm
Found under bark of a dead deciduous tree.

Trogossitidae: Grynocharis quadrilineata
A nice picture. Listed just a bit earlier I believe by you also.

size difference
Is the noticible difference in size just male and female?

male and female?
I don't know. In the collection I did notice a fairly wide array of size differences (a few nearly twice the size of the smallest ones), but made no attempt to check the sexes of the beetles.

OK
I knew they looked alike, but the big size difference threw me.
