Cimbicidae?
This is a typical defensive posture for larvae in the family Cimbicidae, but they are large insects. No size indication is given.

It was a decent size (2-3 cm) if memory serves. But as a rule, I usually do not post sizes on older images, as I fear my recollection skills may not be the most accurate.
