This is a first mention for North America! Well...almost! This Chrysomelidae doesn't appear on any North American list except may be in Nova Scotia, Canada, where it was mentioned for the first time in 2004. You won't find it in American Beetles! It is a first mention for the province of Quebec, and I found it during lunch hour, on a walk around the block where I work. It was on Thistle sp. I recognized right away its similarities with other insects of the Alticini tribe by the way it kept jumping around where I tried to catch it. This insect was identified for me by M.Claude Chantal of Varennes, Que and M.Laurent Lesage of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada of Ottawa. I thought you might enjoy having it on BG.
