looks alot like Cryptophilus...
Hi everyone,
I was looking at some of the Cryptophilus (Erotylidae: Xenoscelinae) photos, and they look very similar to this specimen. See this guy. Looks like it's also not uncommon to mix up Cryptophilus with Henoticus as in the post on this guy... Small beetles :-)

What do you think? Is Jens Esser still around to take a peek???

i concur, Cryptophilus looks like a much better match to me
Tom, is the specimen in UNH? or Don only saw the photo? (you, of all people, would know what kind of blunders i make even with much sharper pix :)

Jan Ciegler has pointed out...
...that the correct spelling of the name of the species suggested by Don is Henoticus mycetoecus (Park 1929)

Cryptophagidae: Henoticus mycetaeus
I think H. mycetaeus is correct.

Species ID
Thanks Don for "getting serious" on this ID:-)

Cryptophagidae
It is a crypto, maybe Henoticus. Would have to get serious to place it to genus with confidence, and cryptos are not high on my "serious list."

Seriously:-)
The id to family is fine with me. It's a lot better than the big ? that I had. Thanks Don.
