Unknown Noctuoidea - Papaipema nebris

Unknown Noctuoidea - Papaipema nebris
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
August 17, 2010
Attracted to garage light. Took it for a Heliothinae at first but the PM line dips caudally rather than rostrally at the medial border.

Papaipema sp.
Looks like the all-dark form of Papaipema nebris or Papaipema unimoda, but like most Papaipemas the two species are so variable that IDing to species can be difficult. The late summer date makes sense for a Papaipema as well.
