under-pine-bark beetle - Asemum striatum

under-pine-bark beetle - Asemum striatum
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
April 6, 2006
Size: 13 - 14 mm
Here the adult beetle has attained its full color. The abdomen has also shrunken somewhat. It will be ready to fly when the abdomen has receded to the appropriate size.

Supposing this is a longhorn with underwhelming antennae, and thumbing through the plates in Yanega's Field Guide to Northeastern Longhorned Beetles, it appears to be reasonably close in size, habitat and appearance to A*semum stri*atum. The squared-off scutellum also resembles that of this species, the name of which I have hidden from this site's search function for now by inserting asterisks.

Cerambycidae: Asemum sp.?
An Asemum or something close to it.

Thank you, Don.
I guess I'll put it in the guide.

thought I'd add another link for information ---> here.

Thanks Phillip.
I'm still not sure. I suppose I should make some proportion comparisons. I'd like to see what Frank has to say about this one.
